Xavi is already without a few of their key players yet somehow has managed to provide positive outcomes this season and remains unbeaten with 6 wins and 3 draws in a total of 9 La Liga games while sitting in 3rd position on the league table accumulating 21 points. In the UEFA Champions League, Barcelona are the table toppers in Group H.

The long list of sidelined players included some huge names Perdi, Frenkie de Jong, Raphinha and the recent addition of the Polish international Robert Lewandowski, one of their key players from the offense, who have been ruled out from the important upcoming fixture EL-Classico against Real Madrid on 28th October. Unfortunately for the Catalans, now the French defender Jules Kounde has also been ruled out from the match.

In addition to Jules Kounde, the 16-year-old sensation, Lamine Yamal has also recently suffered a hip injury, though it is reported injury might not be severe as he will join the Spanish national team camp for international duty, the assessment of the injury is to be made by medical staff.

Injury complicates Jules Koundé’s El Clásico participation

The 24-year-old French center-back was forced off sustaining a knee injury in the Barcelona 2-2 draw against Granada on Sunday in La Liga matchday 8. The club officially confirmed the injury of Jules Kounde who had played a pivotal role in Xavi’s lineup and started all the games at the backline for the Catalans this season.

The club statement said, “Tests this Monday morning have revealed that Jules Kounde has sprained the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee, and the French defender will be unable to play until the injury heals. This also means he will miss out on playing for his country during the international break.”

As per reports, Kounde could be sidelined for a minimum of 3-4 weeks due to knee injury, thus being another name to miss the El Classico on 28th October in addition to international duties for France.
