Chet Holmgren the talented Oklahoma City Thunder rookie missed all of last season recovering from a Lisfranc injury. Chet was the No 2 overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft and was expected to live up to his potential, but could not due to his injury.
Holmgren and his team Oklahoma City Thunder faced the San Antonio spurs on Monday. It was a close game, but the Thunder emerged victorious. The game was extremely hyped as it was a debut game for both Chet and Spurs’ Power Forward Victor Wembanyama aka Wemby.
Who is Chet Holmgren?
Chet Holmgren is the young Center for the NBA team Oklahoma City Thunder. Drafted 2nd overall in the 2022 NBA draft, he played college basketball for the Gonzaga Bulldogs. He is an intelligent player who handles the job of both scoring and defending very well.
Although centers are known for being bad at long distance shooting, Chet is an exception. He has an efficient jump shot which allows him to shoot from a distance and score. He is a legit 7 footer with a wide array of skills.
Chet is a versatile player who can score from multiple areas. His light and lanky frame does not put much pressure on his legs and allows him to move fast. He plays with great speed and agility. Even at his height he has the ability to take someone off the dribble which is marvelous. His movements are super fluid for a guy of his size.
For the past couple of years, the league has been seeing big men like Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid dominating the game. This is the era of giants and Chet seems like he is going to become a promising center along with age and experience. Chet has a skillset which is very rare to exist in a guy of his size. He handles the ball like a guard, shoots like a wing and protects the rim like a pro.
After his debut game, Chet received a lot of praise from Thunder fans and left them wanting for more. With young and talented players like Chet and Shai, the Thunder are preparing to leave the entire NBA in shock by their jaw dropping performances.
