Who is Cole Palmer? Looking at Man City youngster expected to join Chelsea on $57M contract

Though the summer transfer window is about to end in just a few hours, it still looks like clubs are not yet done. Reports claim that Cole Palmer has received an offer from Chelsea to join The Blues for £45 million. Chelsea has become the English club to spend the most money on transfers this season so far after recently bagging Moises Caicedo in a British record deal of £115 million.

But who actually is Cole Palmer? The 21-year-old central midfielder has only been in the public eye for three years, yet the Premier League’s big names seem to be greatly interested in him. Let us have a look at his career and find out more.

Who is Cole Palmer?

Born on May 6, 2002, Cole Plamer is an English football player from Wythenshawe, Manchester. He became a part of Manchester City’s main roster in 2020, but Cole was linked with the club way before that. He became a part of the Club’s under-18 team back in 2018, and as the years went on, he climbed his way up and got selected in Manchester City’s under-19, and eventually the under-23 team roster.

Cole was part of the club during Manchester City’s treble-winning season and the player already has a Champions League trophy, an FA Cup trophy, and a Premier League trophy to his name. Being a young player Palmer’s lack of experience has ripped him of the opportunity to be in Manchester City’s starting 11.

He has also not made a debut for England’s national football team yet, though he did win the European Championship with his country’s under-21 team. It seems quite apparent that the player has a lot of potential, and Chelsea wants to put that to use.

Palmer has certainly proved himself in the premier league. He also scored a goal in the finals of the UEFA Super Cup against Sevilla. Despite all his potential and efforts, manager Pep Guardiola remains unimpressed and refuses to use him from the start of a match. Things might change for the 21-year-old should he sign for Chelsea.

According to a Twitter post by B/R Football, Manchester City and Chelsea have reached a last-minute agreement for the transfer of Cole Palmer worth $57 million. This move could prove beneficial for him but it is still too early to say anything as the player is yet to play a full 90-minute game in the Premier League.
