On this week’s edition of WWE NXT, Lyra Valkyria and Becky Lynch battled it out for the NXT Women’s Championship on the first night of Halloween Havoc. Before the bout, Lyra said she was excited to take a shot for the NXT championship against another Irish champion.
The main event of this week’s episode saw Becky Lynch defending the NXT Women’s Championship against her Irish ally Lyra Valkyria. However, Lyra won a Triple Threat Match, which gave her another crack at the crown. The bout at Tuesday’s Halloween Havoc that crowned Lyra Valkyria as the new NXT Women’s Champion was one of the greatest of the year.
Who is Lyra Valkyria?
When it comes to the women of WWE NXT, Lyra Valkyria has made quite an impression. Her enigmatic appearances foreshadowed her coming and she’s shown her capability to deliver. On December 13, 2022, Lyra made her professional debut and defeated Amari Miller, demonstrating her talent and striking skills.
Lyra Valkyria has recently gained attention for facing WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley on NXT’s July 25 episode. In the world of WWE, she is now a major talking point. After her victory against the NXT champion, she quickly rose to the position of fan favorite.
Lyra’s passion for wrestling since she was a little girl inspired her to pursue a career in the sport. In May 2015, she debuted in for wrestling organizations in the United Kingdom and Ireland. She joined WWE in 2020 and debuted in NXT UK the same year. She even started performing with the NXT brand of WWE in the United States.
Her early adolescent years were spent enamored with WWE superstars like as AJ Lee, Paige, and Sasha Banks. At Fight Factory Pro Wrestling, Lyra learned to wrestle, and in 2015, she debuted as “Valkyrie Cain.” Later, in November of 2018, she received her degree from DCU and threw herself completely into professional wrestling.
Lyra Valkyria defeats Becky Lynch
Kiana James and Tiffany Stratton were just defeated by Lynch and Valkyria. Followers were eager to witness how the allies would handle each other in a fight. However, Valkyria overcame Becky Lynch in an unexpected turn of events, crowning herself the new NXT Women’s Champion.
Though “The Man” emerged victorious over Lyra in their previous encounter, she was defeated by the little girl on Tuesday. Valkyria battled valiantly and countered Lynch’s attack, resulting in a victory. Lynch and Valkyria both did a fantastic job. Almost retaining her championship, Lynch attempted the Manhandle Slam on Valkyria, but she was booted out of the ring. Then, Valkyria pinned Lynch for her greatest victory in WWE.
Lynch conceded the contest and hugged Valkyria when she became champion. Valkyria said she wished Jade Cargill would come to NXT and that if she ever became champion, Cargill would be a formidable opponent. In any case, if Cargill did make an appearance on NXT, whether or not Valkyria’s desire will come true remains to be seen.
