Who is Radu Dragusin attracting interest from Barcelona, Tottenham?

With a Ramos-esque style, Radu Dragusin of Genoa has been gaining a lot of traction and attention in the football transfer market. Described as the ‘New Araujo’, the 21-year-old defender is being scouted by Barcelona to partner up with the real Araujo. Dragusin is also being tracked by a few Premier League teams, with Tottenham at the top of the list.

Radu Dragusin could soon become Barca’s second signing after Vitor Roque, as the Catalans look to improve their team after a very average first half of the season. On the other hand, Spurs look to strengthen their defense as soon as the window opens, as they believe Dragusin could fill in the boots for the injured Micky van den Ven.

Who is Radu Drăgușin?

Radu Dragusin, a Juventus academy graduate, is a defender who currently plays in the Serie A for Genoa. Despite being just 21 years old, Dragusin has already turned all the focus on him. With a goatee, a bun, and a bit of rock-solid defensive attitude, Dragusin is likened to Ramos and Araujo.

After coming to Italy from his home country of Romania in August 2018, Radu Dragusin worked his way up at Juventus. He did, however, only play four times for Juve’s first team. He was later loaned to Sampdoria, Salernitana, and Genoa.

Genoa finished second in Serie B, owing to Dragusin’s rock-solid defense, earning them a promotion back to the Italian first division. This led Genoa to secure his services permanently for €5.5 million in the summer transfer window. Having played every minute of their league season so far, Dragusin has emerged as a key element on the team.

Dragusin will not be available for cheap as Genoa look to slap a price tag of above €30m on the defender, almost six times the price they paid, if and when they decide to sell him.

Genoa defender linked with Barcelona, Spurs

Radu Dragusin has been in conversations with many scouts of big teams throughout Europe and looks set to secure a move in the January transfer window. Not only Spurs, but other English teams such as Arsenal, Manchester United and Newcastle have all inquired about the Romanian defender.

With Barcelona’s recent struggles in defense and their depth in mind, they have added Dragusin to their transfer shortlist for the winter too. The Blaugrana remain interested in the defender and are willing to pay the asking price for him.

Although Barcelona have financial problems restricting them from buying players, the Catalan club hopes to turn their fortunes once the Super League verdict comes out, which could make it easy for them to get the Dragusin deal over the line.
