Premier League club Manchester United is facing defeat after defeat, and it is easy to see that the current club owners are not happy with club boss Erik Ten Hag. The Dutchman is currently on thin ice, and Ruben Amorim might come in to replace him at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag’s United is clearly struggling not only in the Premier League but in the UEFA Champions League as well. Though things are not looking good for the Red Devils, their manager still believes that they can turn things around.
Ruben Amorim emerges as potential candidate to replace ETH
Erik Ten Hag’s tenure in the Premier League has been nothing short of disappointing. The Dutchman’s management has seen his club languishing in the eighth position, with a mere fifteen points to their name. Meanwhile, their local rivals, Manchester City, have soared into the top three. Ten Hag’s struggles extend beyond domestic play, as the UEFA Champions League campaign appears to slip from his grasp, with just one victory out of three group-stage matches. The string of misfortune doesn’t stop there; the 53-year-old manager suffered a crushing 3-0 defeat at the hands of Newcastle United, leading to their exit from the Carabao Cup.
Club owners are not happy with this bad stint and are currently eyeing Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim as a replacement. The Portuguese is doing well at his current club. He has managed to win four of his last five games, putting his club at the top of the league table. Amorim was also on Chelsea’s radar before they signed Mauricio Pochettino.
Amorim responds to Manchester United links
Ruben Amorim talked about his potential move to Mancehster Untied in a post-match interview. The Portuguese said he had an idea regarding his future at the end of the season. “We donât know the future; it depends on the results. It has more to do with the general idea of what we need as a teamâextra pressure so we donât hide. Regarding the future, I have an idea for the end of the season, but I wonât say it now,” he said.
“But the results and the context take us to something different. I donât want to be commenting on these things. I have not been contacted by Manchester United,” he further added. When asked about United triggering the release clause in his contract, which is said to be valued at âŹ10 million, Amorim said, “I will respect the contract; everything that is there will be fulfilled.”
Though Ruben Amorim is a great manager, he is not the only one on Manchester United’s radar. The Red Devils are also considering former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane, so we will have to wait and watch what the future holds.
