Who is Warren Zaïre-Emery, 17-year-old PSG star leaves mark with assists in PSG’s victory over AC Milan?

The French champions Paris Saint-Germain bounced back after a humiliating away defeat in the Champions League on the previous matchday by Newcastle United, with a thumping 3-0 victory over AC Milan at Parc des Princes on Wednesday.

Warren Zaire-Emery stole the spotlight with his exhilarating performance against Milan, earning him the ‘Player of the Match’ award and helping PSG retain the top spot in Champions League Group F. His performance earned praise from football pundits as well as manager Luis Enrique.

Who is Warren Zaire-Emery?

Warren Zaïre-Emery was born in 2006 and is a PSG academy product who found his way to the club’s first team last season from the PSG youth U19 set-up in 2022 and signed his first professional contract with the French side on a three-year deal until 2025.

Zaire-Emery became the youngest-ever debutant for the Parisians in August 2022 at just the age of 16 years 151 days. The teenage midfielder made his first Champions League debut appearance in October as a substitute against Maccabi-Haifa. Earlier this year he was handed his first start in Ligue in order to become the youngest-ever starter in club history. 

Furthermore, he started against Bayern Munich in the knockout fixture to attain the title of youngest starter to feature at the Champions League knockout stage. In August of this season. he registered his first PSG assist for his club in a 3-1 win over Lens.

Last year, Zaïre-Emery led France U17 to lift the title of the European U17 Championship in 2022. Since his senior team debut, the 17-year-old has already made 42 appearances for PSG in all competitions, emerging as one of the key players in Luis Enrique’s lineup.
