Roman Reigns is all set to face his opponent in the upcoming WWE event. Since Reigns returned last week, it has left WWE fans wondering about who is next for the Leader of the Bloodline.
Whenever it comes to Roman’s matches, The Bloodline members always interfere and help him win eventually. WWE has made it known that in the upcoming event of Royal Rumble, The Tribal Chief will face the best wrestler SmackDown has to offer.
Who will face Roman Reigns on Royal Rumble?
In the last edition of Friday Night SmackDown, “Phenomenal One” AJ Styles returned after a lot time. After taking out Roman Reigns and attacking LA Knight, the superstar came to the ring to share his intentions to the WWE universe. As AJ made his way inside the ring he finally confessed that he wants to fight the The Tribal Chief, despite LA Knight and Randy Orton waiting for the same opportunity.
“Randy Orton wants Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble. LA Knight wants Roman Reigns anytime, anyplace, anywhere, and I don’t blame either one of them,” Styles said. “And I don’t give a damn about Randy Orton or LA Knight. Understand this. I am number one when it comes to getting his hands on Roman Reigns. I want Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble.”
Ultimately, this led to a confrontation between all three superstars, who made their presence known, regarding who gets to take Roman Reigns down for good. As things were about to get heated to an unprecedented level, Nick Aldis, the current General Manager of SmackDown, announced a triple threat match between The Megastar, The Viper and the Phenomenal One, at SmackDown’s New Year’s Revolution on January 5, 2024.
Roman Reigns rank on list of longest reigning WWE champions?
Roman Reigns makes occasional appearances on WWE as he works on a part-time schedule. He typically defends his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at major events like Crown Jewel. However, most of the time, he is absent, with The Bloodline members being the primary representation, engaging in matches on behalf of The Tribal Chief.
Reigns’s ongoing reign of 1,209 days as Universal Champion is the fifth-longest in WWE history and the lengthiest since 1988. Other superstars with longer reigns than Roman include Hulk Hogan, Bob Backlund, and Bruno Sammartino.
Hulk Hogan
Hulk Hogan had a streak of 1474 Days, Hogan was massively loved by kids and became the face of WWE during his time. Hogan defeated Iron Sheik at Madison Square Garden and continued to held the title for four long years.
Bob Buckland
Bob Buckland had a streak of 2135 Days, almost double the time than Roman. He wasn’t the biggest or most intimidating guy, but he was one of the top stars in the industry. From February 1978 to December 1983, he held the title for nearly 6 long years.
WWE fans that support Roman Reigns would like it if he could break those records, but Roman has made a lot of enemies by this time, so its still uncertain if he will stay the champ in the near future.
