However, a recent report has surfaced, shedding light on the potential opponent who could step up next to challenge the Tribal Chief in his remarkable reign.
With Night of Champions just around the corner, Roman is edging closer to the impressive milestone of 1000 days as the Universal Champion, which he is expected to achieve at the upcoming event. According to reports, the Head of the Table’s next title defense is set to take place at a Premium Live Event in Saudi Arabia. However, he is not scheduled to compete at Backlash, and it’s unlikely that he will defend his championship on the weekly shows.
As the WWE Draft 2023 gets underway and the roster undergoes a significant shakeup, Roman Reigns will have no shortage of potential opponents to face. Xero News has reported that AJ Styles may be the next challenger to step up and take on The Tribal Chief.
Following the WWE Draft on Friday night, The O.C. including The Phenomenal One, AJ Styles, were drafted to SmackDown, and he made his return from injury. Styles had been out of action since last December, after sustaining an ankle injury during a live event.

AJ Styles and Roman Reigns are familiar foes, having faced each other in the past. In 2016, the two engaged in a heated feud when Reigns held the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. During the feud, Reigns was supported by The Usos, while Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson stood by Styles’ side. Additionally, both groups had several intense six-man tag matches.
Since their feud in 2016, the two superstars have not crossed paths very often. Although they did have a singles match at a live event in 2022, they have not faced each other on television since Extreme Rules in 2016, where Roman Reigns successfully defended his championship against AJ Styles.

Roman Reigns has undergone a significant transformation since his heel turn in 2020. As The Tribal Chief, he has not been pinned in over three years and has defeated numerous top-tier wrestlers. However, AJ Styles is among the most gifted performers in the industry and gave Reigns a run for his money during their previous feud. The Phenomenal One possesses the skills and ability to put an end to The Bloodline leader’s remarkable championship reign.
