Conor McGregor is a professional mixed martial artist from Ireland and the first UFC Champion to hold both featherweight and lightweight double-champion. It is surprising to know the fighter was unaware of his inner potential till the age of 12.
Getting bullied at school led him to learn to fight and once he kept his foot in that era, he found the goal of his life. And since then the player had been unbeatable and sitting on the throne of success at the age of 34.
Controversies and celebrities are constant companions and Conor is no exception. Let’s explore why Conor McGregor threw chair at a bus giving birth to one of the craziest UFC backstage moments.
What led to Conor McGregor throwing a chair at a bus?
Artem Lobov, a former Russian MMA fighter had very close ties with McGregor. In a hotel in Brooklyn, Artem had a fiery altercation with Khabib Nurmagomedov who was not in good terms with McGregor as well and had confronted each other in a verbal fight few times before.
As a result of the altercation, Khabib later faced Artem and threatened him which fueled the tension to the next level. Then on 5 April 2018, during the occasion of the UFC 223 media appearance, Conor and Artem with a group man attacked a bus where Khabib was along with several other fighters at Barclays Center.
The Irish fighter threw a chair on the front glass of the bus and his counterparts also created havoc making many of the passengers injured, who were transported to hospitals immediately. And Conor fled the spot along with his companion.
As a consequence, the MMA star was charged with three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief, and after paying a fine of $50,000, he received bail for some time. The case carried on for a while potentially leading to mental trauma for the former featherweight Champion.
It’s been a while since the incident happened, but still, it occupies the place of some of the most dangerous UFC backstage moments till now. Fighting looks best when it is done inside the octagon not outside of the arena and the MMA stars need to get that by heart.
