Why did Deebo Samuel delete his Tweets about Cam Newton?

Amid an impressive NFL season for the San Francisco 49ers in 2023, a discordant note struck on Christmas Day as the Baltimore Ravens dominated, securing a 33-19 victory. Following this defeat, tensions escalated, sparking an online feud between 49ers star Deebo Samuel and Cam Newton.

Despite initially defending his team, Samuel eventually appeared to acknowledge a potential misstep, subsequently deleting his tweets. This intriguing saga adds a layer of drama to the 49ers’ otherwise standout season, leaving fans and observers curious about the dynamics at play within the league.

Why did Deebo Samuel delete his Tweets about Cam Newton?

After QB Brock Purdy’s average performance in the Christmas night game, Cam Newton, who criticized the hip-drop tackle, called out him.

Despite Purdy’s strong season, the former MVP criticized him, labeling Purdy as a “game manager” and not a “difference maker.” Newton’s comments sparked controversy and received backlash.

Deebo Samuel saw the QB’s comments and swiftly defended his quarterback. Samuel called out Newton, stating, “Cam Newton, stop texting my phone, bro. You were a fan like two weeks ago. You wanted me on your podcast after talking about my quarterback.”

After this tweet, Newton claimed that he had never contacted him. He said, “You must stop the cap, bro. … My point is this: You said something like, ‘Cam, stop calling my phone.’ Motherf—-r, I don’t got your number.”

Despite the initial tweets defending Purdy, Deebo Samuel later deleted those tweets. Subsequently, it was revealed that the communication from Cam Newton might have been a prank.

The WR got pranked by a group of random kids who had his phone number and impersonated the QB, leading to a misunderstanding.

In response to the revelation that the communication was a prank, the WR deleted the tweets where he initially defended his quarterback against Cam Newton’s criticism.

This deletion could be attributed to the realization that the communication was not genuine and to rectifying any misunderstandings resulting from the prank.

Deebo Samuel calls out Micah Parsons

Deebo Samuel also took a jab at Cowboys All-Pro linebacker Micah Parsons. Micah Parsons criticized Brock Purdy during the Christmas night game, expressing dissatisfaction with Purdy’s performance by noting the absence of shots or development throws when the team was down 21 points.

Deebo Samuel responded to Micah Parsons’ comments, shifting the focus back to their previous matchup. The WR expressed confusion about Parsons being bothered by what the 49ers had going on, indicating some tension or disagreement.

“But back to Micah Parsons — bro, we beat you [42-10] a long time ago. I don’t get why he’s so bothered about what we got going on over here or whatever the case may be,” Samuel said.

In contrast to the WR’s success in the Week 5 game, Micah Parsons had a less impactful performance. He had three total tackles but did not record any sacks or interceptions during that matchup. Samuel used the success of that previous game to counter Parsons’ critique of Purdy’s recent performance.

Deebo Samuel is not tolerating any bad comments about his QB and is even ready to receive backlash for speaking out for him.
