Why did LA Knight lose the MITB Ladder match despite being odds on favourite? Exploring the reasons for WWE backtracking on the most over wrestler in the biz

The Money in the Bank 2023 PLE is officially in the history books and we have our Señor and Señorita Money in the Bank. Money in the Bank 2023 was the highest-grossing of premium live event of all time. We witnessed the returns of John Cena and Drew Mcintyre as well as the shocking betrayal of Shayna Baszler to Ronda Rousey. The respective fan favorites in the main matches were LA Knight and Iyo Sky.

The Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns received his first pinfall loss in over 3.5 years courtesy of Jey Uso.  There were rumors that Brock Lesnar is returning to cost Cody Rhodes his match against Dominik Mysterio. Finn Bálor came up short in his attempt to win the World Heavyweight Championship against his rival Seth “Freakin” Rollins due to distractions from Señor Money in the Bank, Damian Priest.

LA Knight failed to secure the briefcase with seconds away from victory

The pop that the self-proclaimed megastar Deuce Dick Rick got was insane. His stardom is on a meteoric rise to transition to superstardom. Fans wanted LA Knight to yell “YEAH” when the announcer would announce, “Here is your winner and the new Mr. Money in the Bank LA Knight”. Unfortunately, the fans had to boo instead of cheer as the winner was Damian Priest.

LA Knight

There is no denying that Damian Priest was not a credible candidate to win this epic match. This helps Judgement Day get more spotlight as Both Damian Priest and Rhea Ripley are holding Mr Money in the Bank and the Women’s World Championship respectively. This also gives rise to a new storyline of tensions rising between Damian Priest and Finn Bálor.

Why didn’t WWE pick LA Knight to win the briefcase despite massive crowd reactions?

The world believed that it is time for Deuce Dick Rick to become Mr. Money in the Bank and finally make his status relevant in the business but that was not the case. Now, the question is why Triple H missed such an opportunity to build LA Knight as a main eventer despite the increasing fan-following of the megastar.

The answer is as Triple H quoted, “I know LA Knight was a massive favorite, continuing that ascent. Great things come to those who wait, and that rise is just getting started.”

LA Knight

The misfortune that happened to Cody when he lost to Roman at Wrestlemania this year despite being the fan-favorite has happened to LA Knight at Money in the Bank. There is no reason to be upset as the next time the megastar is seen, the “YEAH” chant will be much louder than ever before.

As Triple H continues to build LA Knight as a legitimate megastar, we might see him face Logan Paul at SummerSlam this year. Stay tuned to the latest updates of LA Knight Yeah!
