Just a few weeks ago, Anthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn blasted Francis Ngannou, saying the MMA fighter seemed to have no chance against any of the top 20 boxers. However, it appears that Eddie has changed his mind after speaking with the former UFC heavyweight champion personally.
Eddie recently made an appearance on Ariel Helwani’s The MMA Hour where he talked about a prospective Anthony Joshua-Francis Ngannou matchup. The chairman of Matchroom Sport stated during an argument with Helwani that Francis’ fighting prowess gives him no opportunity to defeat Joshua or any other top-ranked boxer at the present.

What recent remarks regarding Francis Ngannou did Eddie Hearn make?
Eddie and The Predator recently had lunch together. The two combat sports personalities had hours-long conversations and heart-to-heart talks during the meal. Due to this, Eddie’s opinion of Francis was shifted, and as a result, Eddie is now more optimistic about working to finalize a fight for Ngannou.
“I’d [recently] done lunch with Francis Ngannou. You know his story. I was completely gobsmacked by the story of this man. We sat for two hours, and I was just listening to just the most remarkable — I mean, how this isn’t a film, I have no idea. Unbelievable,” said Eddie.
Since December of last year, the Cameroonian-French fighter has been without a contract. Ever since the heavyweight MMA fighter has been attempting to secure a boxing match, but the 36-year-old fighter is currently in negotiations to strike an agreement with Deontay Wilder that would launch his professional boxing career.

Eddie afterward provided his thoughts on the potential that Francis’ opponent could be Anthony Joshua, who just overcame Jermaine Franklin to get back on the winning track.
“In your world, that translates to Francis Ngannou. And why not? I don’t feel like it’s a fight that’s going to continue the development of Anthony Joshua under his new trainer.” Eddie added.
