Real Madrid’s captain Karim Benzema has reportedly received an offer from Saudi Arabia but has opted to extend his contract with Los Blancos, according to rumors.
Benzema has been in excellent form this season, following an extravagant 2021-22 season, during which he won La Liga, the Supercopa, and the UEFA Champions League. For his extraordinary performance, he was nominated as the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner.
Karim was named a part of France’s world cup squad but was later withdrawn from it due to an injury. Many believe the injury was not serious enough for him to be unable to play, and his absence was rather because of his poor relationship with manager Didier Deschamps.
What is Karim Benzema’s current contract situation?
The 2022 Ballon d’Or winner’s contract with Real Madrid is expiring at the end of June 2023. Benzema is likely to extend the contract for another year. However, a deal has not been put to paper yet.

The Saudi Arabian League, in which Ronaldo is also participating this season, extended an offer to Benzema as well, according to a report by Marca. Despite the proposal from the Gulf area that potentially involves multiple millions of dollars, the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner has decided to reject the request and continue at the Santiago Bernabeu for at least one more year.
According to the same source, Benzema does not have to rule out a move to Saudi Arabia and could end up changing the Saudi League as Cristiano Ronaldo did.

The story between Saudi Arabia and the striker is not completely over, because of the offer made to Karim Benzema, which includes the establishment of a soccer academy that will bear his name and likeness.
You can expect to see Benzema back in action in the Champions League this Thursday, where Real Madrid will be hosting Chelsea in the first leg of the quarterfinals.
