Following Max Verstappen’s spectacular run at the Bahrain Grand Prix, the Red Bull camp skyrocketed with ‘fiery-hot’ confidence, as their dominance continues right at the season’s start. This impressive performance was put forth after a moment when Jos Verstappen was caught in a meet-up with Mercedes’ boss Toto Wolff.
Regarding this meeting, it is only normal that the ‘controversial’ question arises whether Verstappen will replace Hamilton, as the 7-time World Champion is set to leave for Ferrari in 2025.
Max Verstappen to potentially join Mercedes after Jos’ meeting with Toto Wollf?
Amidst Max Verstappen’s yet another ‘record-breaking’ sprint, his father Jos Verstappen and Mercedes boss Toto Wolff was seen sneaking up for a quick meet-up at the Bahrain International Circuit.
Despite being clipped together, Jos Verstappen and Toto Wolff initially outright denied meeting each other. However, Wolff finally opened up on their meeting, while speaking in a post-race interview with F1-Insider.
During the session, he said, “I have known Jos for 25 years – with ups and downs and I simply congratulated on his son’s achievement. Max is driving in a galaxy of his own.”
When the speculation about Max Verstappen joining the Silver Arrows was brought, he smiled and replied by adding, “Anything is possible.”
Although Wolff hinted at a ‘mere’ possibility, it is highly unlikely that Max Verstappen will join Mercedes–as a direct or indirect replacement for Lewis Hamilton–by leaving the team which has provided him with arguably ‘the most dominating car in F1 history.’
Jos Verstappen and Toto Wolff may have also discussed Red Bull’s ongoing ‘soap opera’ of Christian Horner, who Jos doesn’t seem to like that much.
Jos Verstappen is not a fan of Christian Horner
In a recent interview with Daily Mail, Jos Verstappen has sparked renewed crisis on the already chaotic Red Bull camp, with his recent comments about Christian Horner–despite his son, Max Verstappen clinching away the Bahrain GP this weekend.
During the media session, he expressed his thoughts on the drama at the Red Bull paddocks involving Horner. He started by saying, “There is tension here while he remains in position.”
“The team is in danger of being torn apart. It can’t go on the way it is. It will explode,” he told, raising concerns over the situation.
Accusing Horner, he concluded by saying, “He is playing the victim, when he is the one causing the problems.”
From what it appears to be, Jos Verstappen clearly isn’t a big fan of Horner and prefers to see him thrown out of the Red Bull paddocks–with a clear view that Horner’s case is the only thorn in Red Bull’s way to another great season.
Amidst this chaos and turmoil, Christian Horner will still be at the Red Bull paddocks on 9th March at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, whether Jos likes it or not.
Is it really possible that Max Verstappen leaves Red Bull for Mercedes? Will the Red Bull camp really explode due to Christian Horner’s turmoil? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
