Lucas Hernandez to PSG Transfer Details
Reports broke out some weeks ago that PSG were lining up a move for Lucas Hernandez, and that became a reality yesterday as the French club confirmed the player’s signature on a 5-year deal. According to ESPN, PSG reportedly paid a transfer fee of $47.87 million to bring the 27-year-old to the French capital.

Hernandez’s move to PSG is the latest in a string of smart transfers made by the club so far. He’s the fifth official signing for the club after the arrivals of Marco Asensio and Milan Skriniar on free transfers and the capture of Kang In Lee and Manuel Ugarte.
This appears to be a break from PSG’s usual way of splashing big money on big-name players. Maybe the club doesn’t need a team of superstars to compete at the highest level again, especially in the Champions League. With Hernandez in the club’s books now, perhaps Kylian Mbappe can have a change of heart and sign a new long-term contract with PSG.

Lucas Hernandez and Kylian Mbappe have shared some time on the field playing for the national team on 25 occasions. PSG quickly pointed this out in their announcement of the new signing. “A connection already exists between Lucas Hernandez and Kylian Mbappe,” a club statement reads.
Both players represented France at the 2018 World Cup in Russia and were part of the squad winning the tournament. The duo also represented France at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar before an injury ended Lucas Hernandez’s time in the tournament, with his brother Theo Hernandez taking his place in the team instead.
