Royal Rumble 2025 just happened earlier this month, and in two weeks, another big event, Elimination Chamber 2025, will take place on March 1 in Toronto, Ontario.
This event will be important for WrestleMania 41, as it is part of the Road to WrestleMania with some big matches that will set the tone for “The Shows of the Shows.”
One of the matches that was confirmed recently is between Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens. This match came as a surprise because just a few days ago, Sami Zayn lost his qualification match for the Elimination Chamber 2025 to CM Punk.
However, some drama following that match led WWE to make it official on this week’s Monday Night Raw. On Raw, Sami Zayn kicked off the show with a fiery promo about his history with Kevin Owens. He said they’ve always been connected in wrestling, but this time, there’s no forgiveness since Owens tried to end his career.

Zayn then demanded a match at Elimination Chamber, and the crowd erupted. But when Adam Pearce showed up and said WWE officials wouldn’t let it happen because of Zayn’s health, the crowd’s excitement turned to anger and boos.
Zayn begged, but Pearce refused—until he offered a solution. If Zayn agreed to an unsanctioned match, where anything goes, it could happen. Without hesitation, he accepted. The war was on!
Why WWE made their match unsanctioned at Elimination Chamber 2025?
The rivalry between Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens has been growing for months. This started with Owens accusing Zayn of betraying him during the Royal Rumble Ladder Match against Cody Rhodes.
The tension exploded massively when Owens attacked Zayn with a Package Piledriver after Zayn lost his Elimination Chamber 2025 qualifying match to CM Punk.
Since the move is banned in WWE due to its danger, Zayn is in rough shape and barely able to fight. Because of this, WWE made their match unsanctioned, meaning there were no rules or limits.
Moreover, with emotions running high, this decision will allow both men to settle their score without restrictions. And once it’s over, Owens can finally turn his focus to Randy Orton at WrestleMania 41.
