After a heated exchange with Gunther at Bad Blood, many fans expected a storyline between Goldberg and The Ring General at Crown Jewel or Survivor Series WarGames. But Goldberg missed Crown Jewel and isn’t expected for Survivor Series either. However, the good news is WWE still has plans for his final match, which we might see some time in 2025.
WWE Hall of Famer has officially announced that he will retire from professional wrestling in 2025. During an appearance on the SEC Network, he revealed that he will have his final match next year, marking the end of an illustrious career.
Goldberg said on the show, “The news of the day is, per three executives, Nick Khan, Chris Legentil, and Paul Levesque, in 2025, Goldberg’s having his retirement match. I think we know who the victim, probably the frontrunner right now, we know who it is. But 2025, Goldberg makes his return, retirement match. I got a couple months to get ready. No date, no time, so we’ll see.”
Bill Gold appears to be hinting that Gunther could be his final opponent. There’s no date or place for the match yet, but his retirement might happen during John Cena’s farewell tour next year.
Nic Nemeth hits back at Goldberg’s retirement plans
TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth responded strongly to Bill Goldberg’s announcement about his retirement match in 2025. He shared his thoughts on Twitter, saying that Gold should lose quickly to Gunther in just three minutes.
In his tweet, Nemeth wrote, “On the bell, he spears & jackknife’s Gunther. G kicks out at 1. 3 minute match and good f’n riddance.” Nemeth has fought Goldberg before, including a quick loss at WWE SummerSlam 2019, which shows he still has some feelings about it.
His strong reaction adds drama to the talk about Gold’s final match, and it’s clear Nemeth wants Gunther to beat Bill just as fast as Bill beat him.
