The first Saturday Night’s Main Event ended with an Undisputed WWE Title match between Cody Rhodes and Kevin Owens. The show went off the air with Rhodes’ win, but the real action happened after that, leaving most TV fans feeling they missed the best part. WWE insider Dave Meltzer gave the show an average rating, which makes sense given what fans missed.
The SNME had over 2.3 million viewers, with 1.59 million watching on NBC and 700,000+ on Peacock. Big matches included Cody Rhodes vs. Kevin Owens for the Undisputed WWE Championship and Chelsea Green winning the first WWE Women’s United States Championship. Liv Morgan also defended her WWE Women’s World Championship against IYO SKY.
Dave Meltzer gave the show average ratings in the WON where the Women’s World Championship match got the highest rating. This shows WWE might need fresh ideas beyond the Morgan vs. Rhea Ripley feud for the Women’s division.

Why Dave Meltzer calls Saturday Night’s Main Event disappointing
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer said WWE is probably unhappy with the show’s ratings. He mentioned tough competition like the Heisman Trophy on ESPN and the NBA Cup semi-finals on ABC.
“There was competition, but this thing was promoted so hard that … it has to be considered a disappointment,” he said.

Surprisingly, even with WWE back on network TV after SmackDown left FOX, the ratings were still lower than SmackDown’s usual cable numbers.
