The latest edition of WWE RAW was dominated by the villainous faction The Judgment Day. Other than this the show also featured various high-profile segments & matches. The show’s main event showcased Seth Rollins and Finn Balor in a contract-signing segment.
However, the contract signing concluded with the downfall of the Visionary, as all the members of The Judgment Day attacked Rollins and destroys him. Moreover, the actions of Judgment Day also resulted in injuries on the Red Brand.
Kevin Owens, Liv Morgan reportedly suffers legitimate injury
During the opening of Monday Night Raw, the villainous faction, The Judgment Day, was confronted by the Undisputed tag team Champions, Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn. This led to Sami Zayn earning an opportunity to face Dominik Mysterio for the NXT North American Championship.
Despite interference attempts from The Judgment Day during the title match, Kevin Owens intervened to protect Zayn. However, The Prize Fighter suffered a brutal attack by the faction, resulting in Dirty Dom securing a roll-up victory to retain his Championship.
Later, a backstage segment showed medical doctors attending to Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, with Owens revealed to have sustained a ribs injury. The injury angle was part of the storyline on Monday Night Raw.
During the show’s main event, a contract signing between Seth Rollins & Balor for SummerSlam 2023 turned into a brawl involving The Judgment Day and The Visionary. Sami Zayn attempted to help Rollins but also ended up getting attacked.
Additionally, Liv Morgan was attacked by Rhea Ripley before their match, likely as a kayfabe injury to build hype for Raquel Rodriguez vs Rhea Ripley’s feud at SummerSlam 2023.
What happens to the Tag Team title after Kevin Owen’s injury?
With Kevin Owens possibly suffering from a real injury, it is highly likely that he won’t appear on WWE television anytime soon. Reports after RAW suggest that Owens may be dealing with a legitimate ribs injury. The question now arises about the fate of the Undisputed tag team Championship following the injury of the Prize Fighter.
As of now, there is no official announcement regarding the situation. If Owens’ injury proves to be long-term, the company may consider forcing Sami Zayn to relinquish the tag team titles. This could then lead to a tournament to crown new Champions for the Undisputed tag team division.
Alternatively, WWE might opt to give Sami Zayn a temporary partner for his championship defenses until Kevin Owens makes his return. This would allow the storyline to continue and keep the tag team division active even in Owens’ absence. The final decision will depend on the severity of Owens’ injury and the creative direction the company wants to take with the Undisputed tag team Championship.
