Many wondered if any team would sign him while he was facing such a serious issue. However, in a surprising turn of events, reports say that Xavier Worthy has been released after the Texas district attorney decided not to press charges.
On Saturday morning, news broke that police arrested Xavier Worthy on Friday night for assaulting a family member in Williamson County. Authorities took the second-year wide receiver into custody immediately.

However, after speaking with multiple witnesses, District Attorney Shawn Dick decided not to move forward with the case. A report from Tyler J. Davis and Claire Osborn of the ‘Austin American-Statesman confirmed that the district attorney dropped the charges after reviewing the evidence.
This is good news for Xavier Worthy and the Chiefs. However, following Worthy’s arrest on Saturday, the Chiefs quickly made a precautionary move by signing Marquise Brown.

The Kansas City Chiefs have made a quick move to strengthen their wide receiver group by re-signing Marquise “Hollywood” Brown to a one-year deal worth up to $11 million.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that the Chiefs signed Brown, and now fans hope he will have a great season instead of repeating his struggles from 2024.
This decision comes after fellow receiver Xavier Worthy was arrested on assault charges, which has raised questions about his future with the team. To stay prepared, the Chiefs chose to bring Brown back as an insurance option.
