Baldur’s Gate 3 is the latest entry in the popular game series “Baldur’s Gate” by Belgian game developer Larian Studios in 2023. It is based on the open-to-discretion tabletop fantasy role-playing system of Dungeons & Dragons.
While Baldur’s Gate 3, 2023’s Game of the Year, was just released on Xbox Series X/S a month ago, there have been numerous complaints by the players, aside from the technical issue with the RPG. This had led to sheer discontentment among the players.
Xbox bans Baldur’s Gate 3 player for in-game nudity capture
Just days after the release of the game on Xbox Series X/S, it has started to roll out many complaints by the players.
An Xbox player, going by the name Daddy-Vegas, recently posted on Reddit his peril of getting banned by the Xbox after accidentally recording Baldur’s Gate 3 scenes featuring nudity. The nudity shown in the game was recorded by him but he was oblivious to the fact that it was automatically uploaded to Microsoft’s servers, triggering an auto-ban lasting a whole year.
“I just took a screenshot of content presented to me as designed by Larian Studios, in a game Xbox took my money for, using a feature there’s literally a button for smack in the middle of the controller,” he said to DualShockers. “I didn’t go out of my way to create adult content in an otherwise innocent game; I simply documented the content presented to me in a game very clearly rated M for Nudity and Strong Sexual Content. I feel like it’s if you recorded Game of Thrones on your DVR and your cable company suspended your TV service because someone was naked in the episode.”
That being said, in a new tweet from Larian Studios on social media platform, X, read “Players whose capture clips have been flagged on Xbox should now see their bans begin to lift,” reads the post. “Work is ongoing, and the Microsoft team is aware of the issue! If you’re wanting to upload any clips in the meantime, make sure to turn off mature content.”
Xbox’s year-long ban on Baldur’s Gate 3 player angers gamers
The issues posed by the players are nothing but a clear violation of the player’s right to play. The issue has raised a fit of rage among the players. Although Michael Douse, the Director of Publishing at Larian Studios, has assured the fans that the issue is getting a permanent fix, the inability to play freely has certainly frustrated Xbox players.
Some players extended their disappointment by saying that it is “another nail in the coffin” while one person questioned, “Why players? Why not the game?”
In order to avoid a ban, players should refrain from sharing the content. Moreover, there is even an option to restrict the in-game explicit content, which will prevent you from actually showing any nudity available in the game.
