The former Milwaukee Bucks head coach Jason Kidd recently received praise from the Greek freak Giannis Antetokounmpo. The relationship between Kidd and Antetokounmpo was a bit complicated during Kidd’s time at the Bucks.
Regardless of this, many people agree that Kidd played a significant role in turning Giannis into a superstar. Now after almost five years since the Bucks fired Kidd, Giannis was asked to describe his opinion and thoughts on his former head coach in only one word. And he was all praises.
Antetokounmpo continues to sing Jason Kidd’s praises
Giannis Antetokounmpo recently got the opportunity to play word association, a game where you say the first thing that comes to mind after being asked about something. So, when the Greek freak was asked about his former coach Jason Kidd, he answered “Genius”.
This goes to show how much the Bucks star admires and respects his former coach. When Jason Kidd joined the Bucks after a successful playing career in 2014, Giannis was just a raw talent trying to find his way. Kidd guided Antetokounmpo with his experience in the league as a champion and two-time All-Star.

However, this led to a not-so-pleasant relationship between Antetokounmpo and Kidd as some people say that the newly appointed coach was too hard on the player. While on the other hand, there were also statements that Giannis was not always receptive of Kidd’s coaching.
Eventually Antetokounmpo soon realized the part his coach had played in his improvement, and they both developed a strong bond. It was reported that Giannis was devastated when he heard of Kidd’s firing. This justifies the admiration and respect the Greek freak has for his former mentor.
Why did the Bucks fire Jason Kidd?
Jason Kidd has a pretty successful career as a player but the same cannot be said of his coaching endeavors at the Milwaukee Bucks. There were multiple reasons why he was fired, the most prominent being that the Bucks at that time had a talented young roster but were not playing up to their potential.
Another reason for his firing could be the reported friction between him and several players. However, Kidd did accomplish somewhat good results during his stay. He led the team to two playoff seasons during his first three seasons, helped develop Giannis into a superstar, and also helped improve the team’s work on the defense.
After being fired, Kidd continued his coaching endeavors and has coached two other teams, the Brooklyn Nets, and the Dallas Mavericks. He is currently at the helm of the latter as head coach for the Dallas Mavericks.
