“You don’t talk about Tom Brady”: Former Patriots star brutally claps back at Alex Smith for Tom Terrific diss

Despite Tom Brady’s retirement from the NFL, critics continue to emerge and disparage Tom Brady’s unparalleled legacy. The most recent person to criticize Brady is Alex Smith, a quarterback who didn’t have a very memorable career. He went on live TV a few weeks ago to respond to something the former QB said on his podcast, where Brady called the current NFL mediocre.

However, the former teammate of Julian Edelman, who dropped a hilarious admission on Jimmy Garoppolo, decided to defend the former QB and clapped back at Alex Smith.

Julian Edelman hits back at Alex Smith’s critique of Brady

Julian Edelman responded to Alex Smith’s critique of Tom Brady on Cam Newton’s “4th and 1” show. Edelman criticized Alex Smith for his recent criticism of Tom Brady. He emphasized that Smith is not the right person to make negative comments about the “GOAT” (Greatest of All Time).

After the former QB called the NFL “mediocre,” Smith claimed that the former QB played in the “most uncompetitive division in NFL history,” referring to the AFC East during Brady’s 20-year tenure with the Patriots.

“My biggest complaint with this, and no offense to you guys—well, all three of you guys. He played in the most uncompetitive division, I think, in NFL history,” Smith said on Sunday NFL Countdown last month. “ I mean, you come out of training camp in the biggest cupcake division, you got a ticket to the playoffs right away. Like, talk about mediocre.”

Alex Smith had previously pointed out the lack of a competitive AFC East rival for the Patriots during much of Brady’s time with the team. He mentioned the Patriots’ failure to win the division just once with Brady as the starter.

Julian Edelman passionately defended the former QB, stating, “Nobody talks about Tom like that.” He dismissed Alex Smith as not the type of person to make such comments and referred to him as “not that guy.”

“Nobody talks about Tom, man. You can’t talk about him like that,” Edelman said. “Alex Smith is not even that guy, man. He’s not even that kind of guy. He’s a nice guy. You’re not that guy, pal.”

Edelman suggested that his defense of the seven-time Super Bowl champion is based on factual information. He indicated that it’s uncommon for someone to stand up against the media’s tendency to diminish Tom Brady’s career.

How many Super Bowls did Edelman win with Tom Brady?

Julian Edelman played for the New England Patriots for 12 seasons. Edelman’s journey was categorized as the ultimate NFL underdog story. He transitioned from being an undersized college quarterback to becoming a key player for the Patriots.

Edelman became a favorite target of Tom Brady during his time with the Patriots and won three Super Bowls during his 11-year tenure with the Patriots.

Edelman was named the Super Bowl 53 MVP in 2019 and he missed the entire 2017 season due to tearing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). Julian Edelman retired from professional football in 2021 and also contemplated switicing career with WWE legend Shawn Michaels.

After retiring in 2021, Edelman transitioned into a role as a host for ‘Inside the NFL.’ He co-hosts a podcast titled ‘Games with Names’ with comedian Sam Morril.

Now, both Edelman and Tom Brady are retired from the NFL and focusing on their post-retirement ventures.
