Kendrick Perkins hasn’t been Boston’s favorite lately, especially since joining ESPN as an outspoken analyst. However, he often makes headlines with his bold opinions, and the spotlight’s again back on him after former Celtics teammate Brian Scalabrine made some comments about him.
This summer, Celtics announcer Brian Scalabrine explained on SiriusXM why Kendrick Perkins, who was part of the 2008 championship team, was left out of the Celtics organization. Scalabrine criticized Perkins by saying that the team no longer wanted him.
Appearing on the “All The Smoke” podcast this week, Perkins reacted to those remarks very harshly. He did not hold back in his response, directly calling out Scalabrine.
He said, “Who the f*ck are you? You’re the same motherf***er that, when we won a championship, was in street clothes, hurried up and changed into your jersey. So, once we started taking pictures, you could know that you were part of the team.”
“Is it true that the Celtics banned you from Ring Night?”

The tension between Perkins and Scalabrine began when Perkins criticized Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla. But Perkins mentioned that the coach still invited him to dinner before the season started.
Joe Mazzulla’s personal invite to Kendrick Perkins
Back in January, Kendrick Perkins made a lighthearted comment, saying that if Mazzulla’s brain were in a bird, it would probably make the bird fly backward. There seems to be some tension between them, but Perkins said that Mazzulla still reached out to him at the start of the season.
In the podcast, Perkins revealed that Mazzulla reached out to him via email. He said, “Starting this season, I actually got an email from Joe Mazzulla saying ‘Hey Perk. Whenever you’re free, if you’re in Boston or we play the Rockets, I want to go to dinner and break bread.”
