During the post-fight news conference for UFC 287, Gilbert Burns made a booming announcement about wanting a title fight very soon, and Dana White responded to that statement shortly after.
On April 8 at the Miami-Dade Arena, Burns faced Jorge Masvidal in the co-main event of UFC 287, which headlined Israel Adesanya vs. Alex Pereira 2. After three rounds of complete dominance against Gamebred, the Brazilian fighter beat the Miami native by unanimous decision.

What did Gilbert Burns say regarding his ambition for a title shot?
Burns made a remarkable start to the year, defeating Neil Magny in less than five minutes with ease earlier in January. The Brazilian fighter made his return to the ring after nine months at Rio de Janeiro’s Jeunesse Arena.
Following two straight spectacular victories, Durinho’s ambition for a chance at the crown is now only justifiable as he prolonged his winning streak by thrashing Gamebred. The Brazilian fighter went beyond typical requests and directly claimed a title match from the UFC President.
“And now I’m demanding I’m going out there. I’m gonna do my training camp for five rounds. I [will] go to London, I’ll be the backup and I’m next in line to fight for the title. Otherwise let me go, my guy. Let me do my thing.” Burns said.

How did Dana White react as Gilbert Burns demanded a title shot?
To keep his welterweight title, Leon Edwards earlier defeated Kamaru Usman. After that, the current welterweight division champion will meet Colby Covington to defend his title, according to a statement from Dana White. As a result, Durinho is trying to catch the attention of the UFC president because he wants to be the next contender for the gold belt.
Typically, Dana is a big fan of his fighters making such aggressive demands. So it makes sense that the UFC president would appreciate Burns’ honest statement. Dana orally agreed to Durinho’s demand, despite the fact that he did not elaborate on how Burns will be positioned for his next fight.
“I love that. Yeah, why not? You got a deal.” Dana said.
