Months after suffering from racism, Vinicius Jr. claims to have ‘video of another racist’ during heated matchup against Sevilla

The Brazilian international Vinicius Jr. is one of the key figures in the Real Madrid team and is greatly loved by the Madridistas. However, the winger has been targeted with racism on many occasions in the Spanish league by the rival’s supporters over the past few seasons. 

Vinicius is the most reliable name for Los Blancos and Brazil national team. This season, the winger was rewarded with the iconic number 7 jersey as the successor of club legend Cristiano Ronaldo. However, the 23-year-old has been on the radar of racist fans, and another incident emerged on Saturday against Sevilla.

The Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr has been the subject of racial slurs by opposition fans constantly in Spain. The winger himself has brought it up many times. In May, Vinicius Jr. faced abuse during a match against Valencia, following which the club faced a heavy monetary sanction, including a 5-match partial shutdown of the stadium for fans.

The 23-year-old once again voiced his stance on the recent incident that took place in Sevilla’s home ground where a few home fans targeted the winger with racial gestures. Post-match, the winger released a statement addressing the incident on his social media. 

The Statement said, “Congratulations to Sevilla on the quick positioning and penalty in another sad episode for Spanish football.”

“Unfortunately I have access to a video of another racist at this Saturday’s game, this time carried out by a child. So sad there is no one to educate her. I invest a lot in education in Brazil to train citizens with different attitudes.”

It added further, “The face of today’s racist is stamped on websites as like several other times. I hope Spanish authorities do their part and change legislation for once. These people need to be criminally punished too.”

The player praised Sevilla in his statement for quickly acting upon and identifying the faces, ejecting them from the stadium to hand over to the authorities. 

Vinicius Jr. suffered racist taunt

Real Madrid, the current La Liga leader, played against their neighbors Sevilla in a 1-1 draw at the Sanchez Pizjuan stadium on Saturday. The highlight of the match was an unfortunate act of racial abuse targeting Vinicius Jr. during a heated confrontation between players from both teams.

Sevilla also responded with an official statement condemning the incident, “A member of the public was identified, ejected from the stadium, and handed over to legal authorities. The individual will also be subject to the club’s vigorous internal disciplinary protocols and have their membership revoked.”

The club promised to work closely with the authorities to ensure that the individuals responsible will be punished, reaffirming their stance of not tolerating any such actions in the future.
